Vweb showcases new digital home applications at CES 2004

Vweb showcases new digital home applications at CES 2004

General Interest Jan 4,2004 0

Vweb announced a series of Digital Home applications with its partners, based on its VW2010, VW2005 and VW2002 devices at CES 2004 in Las Vegas. The VW2010 is the first MPEG-1, 2 & 4 Audio/Video/System CODEC and Transcoder chip. VW2005 is an MPEG-1, 2 & 4 Audio/Video/System Encoder chip, while VW2002 is an MPEG-1, 2 & 4 Audio/Video/System Decoder chip.

Vweb's patented MPEG technology enables the best video quality and compression efficiency for all storage and bandwidth related applications. Vweb's innovative MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 transcoding and transrating technologies enable end-to-end video distribution across all wired and wireless networks, including Metro, Long-Haul, Last Mile Broadband and Digital Home wireless access networks.

Partnered with Denon, Vweb will demonstrate a digital entertainment system with Home Media Server and Clients. With Vweb's latest MPEG-1, 2, & 4 A/V CODEC solution, Denon now offers new digital entertainment experience for its customers with dual channel PVR functions for simultaneously watching and recording with minimum hard disk requirements. The multimedia contents and devices now can be shared in every room through wired or wireless home networks.

Coventive/Zao Networks and Alcatel, will jointly demonstrate the streaming of MPEG-2/4 bitstreams from Alcatel's OVS VOD server to Coventive/Zao Networks' IP set-top boxes based on Vweb's VW2010 MPEG-1, 2 & 4 A/V CODEC technology. Thanks to Vweb's MPEG-4 video compression technology, full D1, 1.5 Mbps of DVD quality movies can now be transmitted over ADSL broadband to homes and offices for VOD and distance learning applications. The new IP set-top boxes offer many features, including PVR, web browser, VOD, video conferencing, surveillance, and live broadcast with two-way, interactive communications.

Partnered with CNSoft, Vweb will demonstrate the DVD-PVR solution based on the VW2010 MPEG-1, 2 & 4 A/V CODEC chip. This solution can store twice as much movie content with the same hard disk using MPEG-4 instead of MPEG-2 compression. The transcoding capability of the VW2010 can change the existing MPEG-2 content to MPEG-4 in real-time, and can save storage and bandwidth requirements for home entertainment applications. It supports DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD-DA, MP3, CDI and AVI output formats with maximum flexibility and interoperability.

Partnered with Dvision, Vweb will showcase the four-channel digital surveillance DVR system for home security applications. It can simultaneously encode four CIF video from four cameras. It can also transmit, store and decode four CIF or one D1 video on a TV/PC monitor. Combining four CIF channels into one D1, with Vweb's advanced Motion Activated Recording (MAR) feature in the VW2010 chip, this system offers the most intelligent remote alarming and recording functions with the best price performance for home security use.

Partnered with Atrium, Vweb will showcase video conferencing across IP networks. Vweb's VW2010 MPEG-1, 2 & 4 and H.263 A/V CODEC chip offers less than 200 ms latency for video conferencing. The VW2010 chip's support of the H.263 video and G.711, G.726, G.729 and G.723.1 audio standards allows maximum interoperability with legacy video conferencing systems.

Partnered with Abocom, Vweb will demonstrate digital home gateway server and portable A/V clients solution with streaming of MPEG-1, 2 & 4 audio and video bitstreams over LAN/WLAN. Live video from camera, satellite, cable and terrestrial broadcast can be compressed or transcoded to MPEG-4 using the VW2010. MPEG-4 video can now be transmitted at low bit rates from the Home Gateway Server in the family room to a wireless Media Adapter in every bedroom across the 802.11.a/b/g wireless home network.

Partnered with Plextor and Yuan, Vweb will showcase PCI&USB video creation and PVR applications based on the VW2005 and VW2010 chips. The USB Video Converter box and Media Center PC with bundled software can capture, compress, record, time-shift, edit and publish video for home use. This solution provides consumers with enjoyable digital entertainment with video editing and movie creation at home. Please visit Vweb's CES booth #21128 in South Hall LVCC from January 8th to 11th, 2004 to enjoy the exciting Digital Home experience.
