We Are Commited to BlackBerry 10: CEO

Smartphones Jan 8,2016 0

Although Blackberry's mobile roadmap fror 2016 does not include any new device running on Blackberry 10 OS and the company has alreadyunveiled plans to release another Android phone, BlackBerry CEO Chen says the company remains commited to its own OS. At CES 2016, BlackBerry has been busy discussing self-driving cars, global carrier support for the Andoid PRIV and consumer healthcare apps. There was not any annoucnement related to the future of Blackberry 10 OS. However, Chen says that the BlackBerry 10 operating system isfar from dead, as it is the "heart" of the company's QNX auto platform

"We know how many discriminating customers still demand the gold standard security and productivity benefits of BlackBerry 10, which shares the same rock-solid code as our market-leading QNX auto platform," Chen said.

"Consumer and enterprise fans of our workhorse BlackBerry 10 smartphones such as Passport, Classic and others can look forward to many security and privacy enhancements in 2016," he added.

Chen said that the coming version 10.3.3 will be certified for NIAP compliance, meaning it will have passed the strictest government-grade security tests, enabling Blackberry to further support its government and regulated customers who use BlackBerry 10 devices. Chan added that Blackberry is planning a version 10.3.4 for later this year with even more security improvements.
