Yamaha CDR-W Info reviewed Yamaha 8424s

Yamaha CDR-W Info reviewed Yamaha 8424s

General Interest Nov 6,1999 0

"..As it goes, the new recorder works well with WinOnCD 3.6 PE (421), 8x record was good, under 9 minutes to burn a full CD. The CRW8424S front looks strange at first, but after a while, you get used to the way that it looks. It's very quiet in operation when it reads from a CD. Plays music CD's very well. CD Speed 99 reported that DAE (Digital Audio Extraction) was good at 15.86x, Prassi's PrimoCD Pro 8 reported 10.5x, and Easy CD Creator was over 1600kb/s.

As for CD-TEXT, this is not supported, but who needs CD-TEXT ? I have no need for CD-TEXT, as I do not have a player that reads CD-TEXT !!!

As for all the other features, the CRW8424S works very well, it's had it fair share of work in the last 3 - 4 hours, burning CD's here and there, must be about 15 now, and not a single problem with any, no coasters either.

With it's 4meg buffer, this recorder motors along, but you will need to have a fast PC with a fast SCSI card to use this recorder, also your HD's must be up to scratch to supply data to it if burning files from your HD, if the buffer becomes empty, you end up with a coaster..." NULL
