JVC starts marketing LCOS RPTVs globally
JVC, which had already been marketing its D-ILA (digital direct drive image light amplifier) LCOS RPTVs (rear-projection TVs) in the US, will also begin promoting the products in other Asia regions and Europe, according to Hiroshi Takeda, president of JVC Taiwan.
The company stated its 61-inch (HD61z575) and 52-inch (HDZ575) LCOS TVs are now available in the Taiwan market priced at US$5,734 and US$4,452 respectively. The two models are built using JVC?s leading edge three-chip D-ILA solution and feature 1280?720 resolution as well as HDMI inputs.
D-ILA is JVC?s microchip design technology that packs up to 2048x1536 pixels on a single 1.3-inch chip.
Although JVC currently manufactures its LCOS RPTVs at its Mexico plant ? which has a yearly capacity of 30,000 RPTVs ? with the panel supply coming from Japan. The company has also scheduled construction for assembly factories at Europe and Asia, Takeda indicated.
