ATI Announces Mobility Radeon X1800 Series

ATI launched today its Mobility Radeon X1800 series for the highly competitive notebook gaming segment. The new GPUs are based on the latest in 90 nanometer manufacturing technology and feature over 312 million transistors. The GPUs feature full support for DirectX 9 as well as ATI's Avivo technology for high image quality and high-definition video playback.

The Mobility Radeon X1800 features a native PCI Express x16 interface along with 12 pixel pipelines running at a at 450MHz/500MHz core/mem. The X1800 XT on the other hand has 16 pipes and features a core/mem clock of 550MHz/650MHz. A 256-bit GDDR3 memory interface is also supported for high-end implementations.

"We are thrilled to be the first to market with Mobility Radeon X1800 XT in our Xtreme CTX notebook and giving our customers a new way to experience the next generation of shader-intensive games and high definition visuals."

Mobility Radeon X1800 series will drive notebooks from ATI's partners such as Alienware, Boxx, Eurocom, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Hypersonic, rock, Savrow and Voodoo PC.

Mobility Radeon X1800 series offers a broad range of features including:

- New ultra-threaded 3D architecture and ring bus memory controller

- Fast and efficient 3D image quality for best looking games at break-neck frame rates

- Avivo technology for high definition video and display perfection

- Full support for Catalyst Mobility to empower notebook users with access to the latest Catalyst driver support

Notebooks with Mobility Radeon X1800 series of graphics processors will be available starting March 7th.
