LG.Philips LCD Discloses 14.1 inch Flexible E-paper
LG.Philips LCD exhibited what it claims to be the world's largest 14.1 inch flexible electronic paper (e-paper) device.
The company combined E Ink Corp.'s electrophoretic ink and its own flexible
TFT substrate using stainless substrate.
The company had displayed another e-paper device using similar technologies at the "FPD International" event in October 2005. Compared to this previous model, the latest model features a larger screen, its resolution is boosted from the 800 x 600 to 1280 x 800, the number of gray display tones is increased from the 4 to 16 and e-ink's response time is reduced from the 500 ms to 300 ms.
The e-paper device is expected to be commercialized by the end of 2008.
