E-tailer Lists Upcoming Six-core Core i7 Processor

An Austrian e-tailer has disclosed the specifications of the upcoming 6-core Intel Core i7-980 Extreme Edition processor. According to the specifications posted online, the new 32nm "Gulftown" CPU has 6 cores clocked at 3.33GHz, 12 threads, 12MB of L3 cache, and a maximum Turbo Boost clock speed of 3.6GHz. It also has a built-in triple-channel memory controller supporting DDR3 speeds of up to 1066MHz. The QPI reaches a data rate of 12.8 Gb/s.

The e-tailer lists the new Intel Core i7-980 Extreme Edition for €1,099 including taxes.
