Intel Releases New Dual-Core Sandy Bridge Processors

Intel Releases New Dual-Core Sandy Bridge Processors

PC components Feb 22,2011 0

Intel has just updated its price list with new dual-core Sandy Bridge chips for desktop and mobile devices. New at the list are the i3-2120 (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3.30 GHz 32nm) and the i3-2100 (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 3.10 GHz 32nm) CPUs for desktop, priced at $138 and $117 respectively, in thousand unit quantities.

The low power desktop i5-2390T (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.70 GHz 32nm) is listed for $195, while the i7-2620M (4M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.70 GHz 32nm) mobile processor is priced at $346. For the mobile segment, Intel also released the i5-2540M (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.60 GHz 32nm) and the i5-2520M (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.50 GHz 32nm) priced at $266 and $225, respectively.

Last but not least, Intel has added five new CPUs to its LV/uLV Intel mobile (FCBGA10) Core i7 and Core i5 processor family. These are the i7-2649M (4M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.30 GHz 32nm, $346), the i7-2629M (4M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 2.10 GHz 32nm, $311), the i7-2657M (4M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 1.60 GHz 32nm, $317), the i7-2617M (4M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 1.50 GHz 32nm, $289) and the i5-2537M (3M cache, 2 Cores, 4 Threads, 1.40 GHz 32nm, $250).

The new dual-core processors for mobile devices are expected to power Apple's new MacBook Pros.

Launched at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, Sandy Bridge is the first mainstream Intel chip to integrate graphics silicon directly onto the processor. It is also the first chip line based fully on Intel's 32-nanometer manufacturing process.

Intel has resumed shipments of Sandy Bridge chipsets as it seeks to put a minor issue with the chipset behind it.
