Yamaha Introduces 8x Pure Phase Laser System CD-RW Recorder

Yamaha Introduces 8x Pure Phase Laser System CD-RW Recorder

General Interest Apr 5,2000 0

"..Yamaha announces the introduction of the CRW8824 series of internal and external ReWritable CD recorders at Retail Vision 2000. These models feature the new Pure Phase Laser System -- an exclusive Yamaha anti-glare technology that results in exceptional reliability while recording CDs at higher speeds.

Designed as part of a new generation of high-speed CD recorders from Yamaha, the CRW8824 series of CD-RW drives are the first recorders to rewrite CD-RW disks at 8x speed using the advanced CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) versus the traditional CLV (Constant Linear Velocity) technology. CAV will soon be the preferred technology for CD-R/RW write and rewrite because of the constantly elevating requirements to provide reliable, ultra high CD recording.

The CRW8824 series drives offer 140 ms average access time and a large 4 MB buffer memory and use high performance 8x CD-R and CD-RW media for optimum recording. Yamaha and other leading manufacturers will be introducing a new breed of 8x rewritable media in May 2000, capable of reliable 8x rewriting at a cost slightly more than quality 4x certified CD-RW media.

The CRW8824 series will feature four distinct models. The internal CRW8824SZ unit using Ultra SCSI (SCSI-3) technology will be introduced in late May 2000 at an estimated street price of $299.99, while the internal CRW8824EZ using ATAPI (E-IDE) technology will be available in early June 2000. The external CRW8824SXZ using Ultra SCSI technology and the external CRW8824FXZ using IEEE 1394 Firewire technology will be available in late June 2000. The Firewire connection provides very easy installation, reliable performance and fast recording speeds.." NULL
