LG Display Develops a 47-inch LCD TV Panel Boasting the World's Lowest Power Consumtion
LG Display announced on October 7 that it has developed a 47-inch full HD LCD TV panel boasting an power consumption of just 28W - less than the power needed to power an 20-inch PC monitor.
LG's technological ability to attach LED lamps to only one vertical side out of four sides was used on this newly developed 47-inch panel. By reducing the number of LED lamps, LG achieved the world?s lowest power consumption of 28W.
This panel adopted a three layer optical film structure, which helps diffusion and concentration of light, highly efficient LED lamps, and a "local dimming (partial control)" technology. It also secured a high brightness of 400 nits, which is equivalent to the brightness of premium TVs. The panel realized both a full HD resolution and an ultra slim 8.5mm-thick panel frame (bezel).
