Intel Offers Overclocking Insurance For Its Processors

Intel Offers Overclocking Insurance For Its Processors

PC components Jan 19,2012 0

Intel has announced the "Performance Tuning Protection Plan ", offered by the company to users that experiment with the overclocking features of their processor. With the potential to kill your expensive CPU by overclocking, the Plan allows users a single processor replacement from Intel's customer support. This is in addtion to the standard 3 year warranty coming with Intel's processors.

In other words, if it fails under normal usage, Intel will replace it under the standard warranty; if it fails while running outside of Intel's specifications, the company will replace it under the Performance Tuning Protection Plan.

The Plan provides a one-time replacement and it is only applicable to the replacement of the following processors: Intel Core i5-2500K, Intel Core i7-2600K, Intel Core i7-2700K, Intel Core i7-3930K and Intel Core i7-3960X.

In order to take advantage of the plan, owners of the specific CPUs should purchase the plan within one year of the purchase of an eligible Processor. The Plan may only be purchased from the following web site: www.intel.com/go/tuningplan.

There is no limit to the number of Plans that can be purchased, provided that only one Plan can be purchased per Eligible Processor.

Each Plan activation code is associated with the specific eligible Processor for which it was purchased. A user identification (User ID) and password are required to be established at time of Plan purchase. This allows a user to log into the Plan website and view their transaction history related to a specific Plan activation code. A user may optionally transfer any or all of their purchased Plans to a new user ID on Intel's Plan website.
