Japan Display Showcases Naked-eye 3D Display, 5.4-inch 543ppi TFT LCD Module At FPD
The booth of Japan Display at FPD International 2013 includes a 5.4-inch WQHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) TFT LCD module with a pixel density of 543ppi. The company is also showcasing a naked-eye 3D display that tracks the the movement of the viewer's head.
The 5.4-inch display allows offers detailed and dynamic images featuring the world's highest resolution density of 543ppi. Based on the low temperature poly silicon (LTPS) technology, it offers low power consumption due to increased panel transmissivity along with a thin module and a narrow dead-band, making it appropriate for mobile devices.
In addition, JDI has also developed another high-density (473ppi) 6.2-inch WQHD TFT LCD module for smartphone use.
JDI has also attracted visitors with a naked-eye 3D display that tracks a human head probably. The display tracks the movement of the head with a compact camera mounted on the top of it and adjusts a 3D image based on the movement data. The display realizes 3D images free from pseudo-stereoscopic effect, Japan Display said. The 1,440 x 1,280 3D display can recognize a human's face from a 50cm ~ 1m distance from the the camera.
The Japanese company is also showcasing automotive displays. Among them was a curved display with an in-cell touch panel (screen size: 12 inches, pixel count 2,560 x 1,440), designed for use in cars. A high-brightness, high-color rendering index automotive display was also there. In the high-brightness mode, the display has a brightness of 1,400cd/m2 and a 102% color gamut on NTSC standards.
FPD International 2013 is taking place from Oct 23 to 25, 2013, in Yokohama, Japan.
