Japan Display starts Shipping 5.5-Inch WQHD LCD Modules for Mobiles
Japan Display will start shipping a 5,5-inch, Wide Quad HD (WQHD, 1,440 x 2,560) LCD display for smartphones next month.
The display boasts a screen resolution of 538 ppi, and adopts JDI's low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) technology, which helps improve the pixel aperture ratio to achieve high transmittance and low power consumption. In addition, the LCD retains the thinness and compactness of the conventional Full-HD TFT liquid crystal display modules.
JDI plans to release a number of WQHD products in 2014 as it anticipates that a new range will emerge in the smartphone sector.
