Sony PlayStation Vue Will Soon Not Require A Game Console

Consumer Electronics Jun 26,2015 0

Soon, everyone will be able to enjoy Sony's PlayStation Vue cloud-based television service without neding to own an Playstation video game system. Sony Computer Entertainment plans to open up the PlayStation Vue cloud-based television by the end of this year, allowing anyone with a tablet to use PlayStation Vue, Nikkei reports.

Currently, only people with Sony's PS3 and PS4 game systems can connect to PlayStation Vue.

The company, hopes to encourage customers to switch to PlayStation Vue in place of expensive cable TV.

Although it is not clear which devices will be compatible, it appears the service will be offered on popular tablets.

PlayStation Vue has been rolled out in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Subscribers get up to 85 channels for a monthly fee of $49.99 to $69.99.

Cable TV customers in the U.S. typically pay $100 a month or more for the service.
