Nvidia Recalls Some SHIELD Pro Units
Following July's recall of about 88,000 Nvidia Shield tablets due to a potential heat risk, Nvidia is now recalling some of its customers’ Shield Pro Android TV consoles due to hard drive failure issues.
The recall applies to SHIELD Pro (500GB) units and not the SHIELD (16GB) units, Nvidia said, adding that "less than 1 percent of SHIELD Pro units have been diagnosed as having a hard drive issue that can worsen over time."
A symptom of this issue is the device’s failure to properly update during a System Upgrade (fastboot menu is seen). In addition, severe and persistent pixilation in all tiles of the top row of the Android TV home screen could occur (text in tiles will be unreadable and does not become clear after a few seconds).
If you notice any of the following symptoms, apply for a replacement (RMA).
