HTC Delays Launch Of Vive, New Flagship Smartphone Coming
In an effort to clear up speculation and misinformation surrounding the launch of HTC Vive this month, HTC confirmed that its first virtual reality (VR) device, the HTC Vive, will not be available to consumers until April 2016. The company also said that it will launch a second generation development kit for the Vive at CES 2016 and expand its engagement with audiences at key events including The Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, GDC and MWC.
HTC plans to startthe new year by making an additional 7,000 units available to developers, followed by commercial availability of the HTC Vive in April 2016.
New smartphone on the way
The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is also expected to launch a new flagship Android 6.1 smartphone called the "Perfume" in the first quarter of 2016."
The new phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 820 processor and will run the company's customized Sense 8.0 interface. It will also come with a 3,500 mAh battery and 4GB RAM, a 20.7-MP primary camera and a 5-MP secondary camera, and a 6-inch, 1440×2560 pixel resolution display.
The upcoming HTC device is also rumored to feature fingerprint scanning functions for user authentication as well as heart rate sensors.
The launch of the HTC Perfume should be expected in the first quarter, quite likely during the annual Mobile World Congress from Feb. 22 to 25 in Barcelona, Spain.
