ALi Corporation (formerly Acer Laboratories) reported NT$633 million for its May sales, setting a new monthly record for this year. Encouraged by steadily growing shipments of its DVD player servo chips, ALi should be able to see at least NT$600 million in June revenues and attain its 2002 target, said company president Chin Wu. Besides DVD player servo chips, Wu said that ALi basically has its DVD-ROM and CD-RW drive chips ready. The company launched 20x DVD-ROM single chips in February, ahead of rivals Mediatek and VIA Technologies, and should start volume production in the third quarter, according to the company’s latest schedule.

So far, the company has not unveiled its CD-RW chips yet. However, Wu said in a previous interview that ALi would finish the technical version in the first half of 2002 and begin cooperation with a few clients for further product design.
