Windows 10 Build Hints at Foldable Devices
Microsoft has been rumored to be working on “Andromeda,” a foldable PC which could fit right in your pocket and a large dual-screen device referred to as “Centaurus,” but according to a Windows 10 Build, it seems that Redmond is closer to announcing foldable devices.
The Windows 10 build 18313.1004 has surfaced from Microsoft servers and according to the strings appended in the build’s name (rs_shell_devices_foldables.190111-1800 ), it should be the first Windows 10 SKU that will run on forthcoming foldable devices. Obviously, Microsoft has a dedicated team working on adapting its Windows shell for this new hardware.
Microsoft is reportedly making foldable devices and dual-screen hardware a big investment area for both Windows and Surface. This means that Microsoft should also adapt the Windows OS and its built-in apps to work across foldable displays and devices with dual screens.
Google has already pledged to natively support foldables in Android.
