QNAP Introduces New ZFS-based QuTS hero Operating System and Enterprise QuTS hero NAS
QNAP Systems, Inc. today introduced the brand new QuTS hero NAS operating system that integrates the app-based QTS with a 128-bit ZFS file system to provide flexible storage management, data protection and optimized performance
Meanwhile, QNAP rolled out the special edition QNAP NAS— the TS-h1283XU-RP, TS-h1277XU-RP, and TS-h977XU-RP— with QuTS hero preinstalled and multi-core computing power, providing more reliable and cost-effective NAS solutions for IT applications.
QuTS hero focuses on data integrity and features self-healing capabilities. It supports read/write cache technology and provides multiple RAID configurations with the newly-added RAID Triple Parity and Triple Mirror to enhance data protection. Additionally, support for near-limitless, instant snapshots enables more complete multi-version backups. For data reduction, QuTS hero supports inline data deduplication, inline compression, and inline compaction to optimize storage usage and improve performance. The inclusive App Center provides multiple install-on-demand apps to further expand NAS application potentials, such as hosting virtual machines and containers, simplifying local, remote, or cloud backups, performing cloud storage gateway (feature will be available soon), and more.
QuTS hero NAS systems come with an Intel Xeon E-2236 six-core processor or an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X eight-core processor. Four 10GbE ports provide advantages for bandwidth-demanding applications, while support for SSD caching can boost IOPS performance and maximize 10GbE file transfer speeds. The flexible PCIe expansion allows abundant I/O capability by installing various expansion cards, including 10GbE/25GbE/40GbE adapters, QM2 cards for adding M.2 SSDs, Fibre Channel cards for making the NAS a SAN storage, and SAS expansion cards for connecting storage expansion units. QuTS hero NAS also supports storage for VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Windows Server 2019 virtualization environments.
