On February 5, the companies announced that they would form an optical storage joint venture..." and continues "...Sunplus had a 60% share of the global VCD chipset market last year with its MPEG-1 decoder chipsets reaching monthly shipments of two million units. Its global market share in DVD chipsets, however, was less than 1%.
