AMD Pumps Up Performance For Notebooks With New Mobile AMD Athlon 64 Processor 4000+

AMD today has achieved yet another benchmark in 64-bit mobile computing. This has been achieved with the introduction of the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ for high-performance, full-size notebook computers.

Based on the award-winning AMD64 technology, this new mobile processor enables a powerful computing experience in both 32-bit and 64-bit environments. The Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ also offers Enhanced Virus Protection (EVP), an advanced security feature designed to prevent the spread of certain malicious viruses.

"Since 2003, AMD has been leading the way to pervasive 64-bit mobile computing, offering open-standard AMD64 technology for a diverse range of high-performance mobile PCs," said Chris Cloran, director of the Mobile Division for AMD's Microprocessor Solutions Sector. ?The new Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ provides a foundation for building the fastest, most feature-rich 64-bit notebooks available today."

Fujitsu Siemens Computers plans to incorporate the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ into a new AMILO A1667G notebook, which is expected to be available next month throughout Europe.

"Bringing the latest Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor to this new AMILO notebook allows us to continue to offer our customers cutting-edge technology and performance," said Herbert Sch?nebeck, vice president of Fujitsu Siemens Computers' Consumer Business Unit. ?With the AMILO A1667G notebook, consumers do not have to sacrifice power in order to have style and true mobility."

Additional Performance for Gamers on the Go
In addition to the outstanding performance made possible by the new Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+, notebook manufacturers also can design powerful mobile systems using AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processors or the world's most extreme processor for gaming, the AMD Athlon? 64 FX-57 processor. In fact, VoodooPC has recently announced a new gaming machine that offers both the Voodoo ENVY Heavyweight u:709 notebook.

AMD works with industry-leading partners to help assure that all its mobile processors are compatible with the latest graphics and wireless solutions, including wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g. As with all existing AMD mobile processors, the new Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ enables exceptional on-the-go computing with AMD PowerNow! technology, a dynamic power management feature pioneered by AMD for extended system battery life.

Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processors are now available in models 4000+, 3700+, 3400+, 3200+, 3000+ and 2800+.

For those consumers and business professionals seeking notebook PCs to meet their everyday computing needs, AMD has recently expanded the offerings in the Mobile AMD Sempron processor family. Mobile AMD Sempron processors are now available in models 3300+, 3100+, 3000+, 2800+ and 2600+ for thin and light notebooks, as well as models 3300+, 3100+, 3000+, 2800+ and 2600+ for full-size notebooks.
