Apple Said to Use Samsung's Youm On-Cell Touch AMOLEDs in 2019 iPhones
A new report by Korean site ET News claims that Apple will radically overhaul the screen technology inside its 2019 iPhones which will lead to size, weight and cost savings.
The website says Apple will integrate in its new iPhones Samsung’s ‘Y-OCTA’ (Youm On-Cell Touch AMOLED) displays, which place the touch sensor directly on the flexible OLED layer. The result is a more responsive display which is thinner, lighter and cheaper.
The specific approach has been already integrated in the Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphones.
Apple is facing falling customer interest for its iPhones and has already started to counter that by competing on price.
