ASUS at CES 2018
Asus at CES 2018 showcases the Lyra and 802.11ax networking devices, NovaGo LTE-capable laptop, the ZenFone Max Plus (M1) smartphone, along with many new computing devices (ZenBook Flip 14, X507, Vivo AiO V272, Vivo AiO V222) and more.
Lyra Voice
Winner of the CES 2018 Innovation award, Lyra Voice is a two-in-one 802.11ac mesh WiFi system and voice assistant with stereo speakers, a microphone and integrated Amazon Alexa voice control. Users can interact with Amazon Alexa by talking to Lyra Voice, enabling them to play music, hear the news, check the weather, control smart-home devices, and more.
Part of the Lyra mesh WiFi system family, Lyra Voice is a tri-band, AC2200-class device that communicates with other connected Lyra hubs to provide whole-home coverage with no WiFi dead zones. The system also integrates with trigger and automation services such as IFTTT, making it easy to turn a traditional house into the connected smart home. Lyra Voice can be configured and controlled easily using the Lyra mobile app.
ASUS Lyra Trio
Lyra Trio is a dual-band, multi-hub mesh WiFi system with unique antenna placement to deliver fast WiFi to every corner of the home.
Lyra Trio features 3x3 MIMO technology and roaming to deliver high WiFi speeds and automatically connect users to the best possible signal wherever they are in the home. This new WiFi-system also boasts always-on privacy protection for all connected smart devices.
The ASUS Lyra app puts users in control, enabling PC-free setup, network management and diagnostics, and automatically notifies the network administrator should problems arise.
ASUS RT-AX88U
RT-AX88U is a dual-band router featuring the next-generation 802.11ax wireless standard for WiFi speeds of up to 6000Mbps. With a combination of OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology, 802.11ax technology provides 4X-faster throughput than existing 802.11ac technology with connected devices in traffic-dense environments.
With the latest 802.11ax technology and a four antenna design, RT-AX88U provides wide coverage and stable connections. Moreover, it offers easy connectivity for multiple users. Its eight Gigabit LAN ports and MU-MIMO technology for both uplink and downlink communications make RT-AX88U the ideal solution for users that demand high connectivity count for both wireless and wired connections. It's also compatible with the ASUS AiMesh WiFi technology for seamless whole-home coverage.
ASUS Lyra Voice, Lyra Trio and RT-AX88U will be available in 1H 2018.
ASUS NovaGo
NovaGo is a Gigabit LTE-capable laptop designed for connected mobility, providing users with an always-on, always-connected experience with Windows 10 S. This ultrathin convertible laptop is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC platform, and features a Gigabit Snapdragon X16 LTE modem for download speeds of up to 1Gbps. It has up to a 22-hour battery life with over 30 days of modern standby, and a built-in eSIM or Nano SIM that ensures connectivity across borders.
NovaGo runs Windows 10 S natively and provides users with a familiar features including the Start menu and new features like Windows Ink, Windows Hello and Cortana. Windows 10 S runs verified apps from the Microsoft Store.
ASUS NovaGo will be available starting at $599 MSRP in 1H 2018.
ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1)
ZenFone Max Plus (M1) is the first model in the new ZenFone Max Series, a new range of high-battery-capacity smartphones, designed for connected users that need their devices all day. It features a 5.7-inch full-view display in ZenFone Max Plus has an ultra-wide 18:9 aspect ratio and ultrathin bezels that give ZenFone Max Plus an 80% screen-to-body ratio.
In addition to the front f/2.0 selfie camera, ZenFone Max Plus features an advanced dual rear-camera system. Its 16MP PixelMaster main camera is equipped with a wide, f/2.0 aperture lens to capture clearer photos, and a phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) system that can accurately focus on the subject in just 0.03 seconds even if the subject is moving.
The secondary 120° wide-angle camera has a 200%-wider field of view than standard smartphone cameras, allowing more scenery or people to fit in the frame for dramatic landscape shots.
Other notable features include face and fingerprint recognition security, and a high-capacity 4130mAh battery.
ZenFone Max Plus offers users up to 26 hours on standby, 26 hours of 3G talk time, up to 21 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi, or up to 13 hours of video playback.
ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1) will be available starting at $229 MSRP in February 2018.
ASUS Windows Mixed Reality Headset coming in North America
The ASUS Windows Mixed Reality Headset will be available in Q1 2018 with Asus to provide pricing details at launch.
Its design is featuring a 3D pattern and a comfy weight-balanced construction (weighing less than 400g) with antibacterial cushioned materials. The ASUS Windows Mixed Reality Headset has a convenient design, allowing users to switch between the virtual and real worlds in seconds. Users can simply lift the visor for a temporary reality check, and flip it back down to instantly immerse themselves in the virtual world again.
It doesn't need any external sensors, making initial setup easy - users will be ready to play in less than 10 minutes. Instead, two built-in front-facing tracking cameras with six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) position tracking, and 32 LED lights on each controller allow the ASUS Windows Mixed Reality Headset to map a user's environment, and track their movements and controllers. The headset contains multiple sensors - gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer - that determine the user's orientation, and thanks to itsinside-out tracking design, virtual and physical worlds will be synced, and free of latency or distortion.
What's more, the headset supports over 20,000 Windows apps and more than 2,000 Steam VR titles. And importantly, the headset is also compatible with a wide range of affordable PCs.
The device has a 3K (2880 x 1440) resolution display and up to a 90Hz refresh rate.
New Consumer Laptops and All-in-One (AiO) PCs
ASUS announced six new products - the ZenBook 13 (UX331UAL), ZenBook Flip 14, Vivo AiO V272, Vivo AiO, ASUS X507 laptop - from its 2018 range of Windows 10 consumer laptops and all-in-one PCs.
ZenBook 13 (UX331UAL)
The ZenBook 13 is a Windows 10 laptop that's ultralight and powerful. It ls featuring a 2.17lb all-metal chassis and up to 15-hour battery life.
Its 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and 1TB PCIe SSD lets users blast through all their tasks with ease, and its Harman Kardon audio system delivers powerful immersive sound.
Windows 10 provides a secure and familiar computing experience, including new features like Windows Hello, Modern Standby, and Microsoft 's digital assistant Cortana.
Zenbook 13 will be available in 1H 2018.
ZenBook Flip 14 (UX461)
ASUS os bringing the ZenBook Flip 14 (UX461) 2-in-1 laptop in North America.
The ZenBook Flip 14 has a 14-inch, 360°-flippable NanoEdge slim-bezel touchscreen that supports the ASUS Pen active stylus.
The power of ZenBook Flip 14 is provided by the latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, combined with up to 16GB RAM, up to NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics and up to a 512GB PCIe x4 SSD. A 57Wh lithium-polymer battery gives ZenBook Flip 14 an up to 13 hours of autonomy, and also includes fast-charge technology that can recharge it to 60% capacity in just 49 minutes.
Measuring a 13.9mm thin and weighing as little as 1.4kg, the ZenBook Flip 14 has an all-aluminum unibody, with an ultra-compact footprint that houses a 14-inch screen in less space than many 13-inch models. The lid features our iconic Zen-inspired spun-metal finish, and ZenBook Flip 14 is available in two colors: Icicle Gold and Slate Grey.
The ZenBook Flip 14 also uses exclusive ASUS display technologies. The wide 100% sRGB color gamut and TV-grade 1000:1 contrast ratio, and ASUS Splendid technology, ASUS Tru2life Video and ASUS TruVivid direct-bonding technology.
ZenBook Flip 14 uses a Harman Kardon-certified ASUS SonicMaster audio system featuring a smart amplifier technology and software to ensure the ultimate audio experience.
The laptop features a full complement of I/O ports, including the USB Type-C (USB-C) port for any-way-up connections. There are also two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a HDMI port and a microSD Card slot.
Other features include a full-size backlit keyboard with a 1.4mm key travel and touchpad with a glass covering for smooth control. The touchpad also incorporates a fingerprint sensor.
ZenBook Flip 14 will be available in March 2018 starting at $899 MSRP.
ASUS X507
Offering portability and performance for daily computing, the ASUS X507 is powered by a 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce MX110 graphics and a dual-storage design. It has a slim-bezel NanoEdge Full HD display for unbounded visuals and Windows 10.
Vivo AiO V272
Vivo AiO V272 features an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics. The 27-inch multitouch display has a wide 100% sRGB color gamut and 178° wide-view technology and combines with the ASUS SonicMaster audio system with its bass-reflex speakers.
The ASUS ZenAnywhere app gives users remote access, and turns Vivo AiO V272 into a personal cloud storage center.
Vivo AiO V222
Vivo AiO V222 has a frameless 22-inch Full HD display that features edge-to-edge visuals. Combined with its ASUS SonicMaster bass-reflex speaker system, ASUS Splendid and Tru2Life Video technologies, Vivo AiO V222 delivers great visuals with clear audio.
Small Form Factor Solutions
ASUS' latest lineup of small form factor products appear at CES 2018, including the PB40 and PN40 Mini PCs, Chromebox 3 and Tinker Board S.
The ASUS PB40 Mini PC offers connectivity with up to six USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports and a flexible I/O port design with VGA/DP/COM/HDMI support. Its metallic chassis houses the latest 8th Generation Intel Pentium Silver processor. The PB40 is also offered in a fanless design with Intel Celeron processors. In addition to its compact design, the PB40 supports optional stackable modules such as optical drives.
Powered by 8th Generation Intel Pentium Silver and Celeron processors, the new ASUS PN40 Mini PC features a sliding bottom case design for easy upgrades. Compact and lightweight, it measures 114 x 114 x 49mm and weighs just 1.54lbs. It offers a wide range of connectivity options including USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C for fast data transmission, and a changeable I/O port for VGA or COM support.
ASUS Chromebox 3 is the latest addition to the ASUS Chromebox family and is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core processor and DDR4-2400 memory. It is equipped with a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port for quick data transfers, dual-band 802.11ac WiFi and Gigabit LAN for faster streaming along with DisplayPort and HDMI connectivity for 4K UHD video playback.
The ASUS Mini PC PB40 and PN40 as well as the ASUS Chromebox 3 will be available in 2H 2018.
The new Tinker Board S features 2GB of RAM and 16GB of eMMC storage, while retaining the same board size and component placement as the original Tinker Board. On display at the ASUS showcase room are two demos illustrating some of the ways the Tinker Board S can turn ideas into reality. The first demo showcases the processor, memory and I/O speed of Tinker Board S with MATRIX Creator to quickly prototype different types of hardware applications. The second demo highlighted how the 192 KHz audio output and support for digital-to-analog converter (DAC) add-on cards improve the home entertainment experience.
The Tinkerboard S will be available in Q1 2018, and will be available starting at $79.99 MSRP.
