be quiet! Light Wings Fan Review
2. Retail Package
Light Wings 120mm PWM offers ARGB lighting at the front and rear. The subtly lit ring at the back combined with the bright one at the front make for a magnificent appearance from every angle. 18 ARGB LEDs give you many opportunities to individualize your PC build. With optimization for maximum airflow, Light Wings 120mm PWM is the right choice for any case configuration that demands high cooling performance. Its seven airflow-optimized fan blades not only reduce noise-generating turbulences but also ensure Light Wings 120mm PWM provides the performance that is needed, even in demanding configurations.
A highly optimized impeller achieves the silent operation be quiet! is famous for. With a noise level of 20.6dB (A) at maximum fan speed, it proves that instead of being a replacement the lighting is an add-on to very silent and powerful operation. All features combine to make Light Wings 120mm PWM the fan of choice for silent show cases and gaming systems alike.
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) allows compatible 4-pin controllers, including those built into many motherboards, to intelligently vary the speed and thus the noise level of the fan. With PWM the system can ramp up the cooling when it’s needed, or operate in maximum quiet mode when it’s not.

Retail Package
For our tests we got one 120mm and one 140mm Light Wings PWM model (the normal one, not the high-speed version).
The package is simple and includes the fan and mounting screws.
The product comes with three connectors, the 4pin PWM power supply that is being used to supply power to the rotating fan and two more ports one male and one female 3-pin RGB headers that are being used with Addressable RGB lighting systems. The 3-pin header, which is 5V, can also be referred to as the “digital RGB header”, or “addressable RGB header” (DRGB, ARGB). This header uses separate pins for power, data and ground. ... When you send information through this pin, the first LED uses the first part of the data, then passes the right along and so on. Your motherboard should have 3 pin headers to use this kind of RGB.
All led are installed at the outer ring and for the 120mm fan are 18 according to the specs. The overall effect is very good and with the motherboard software you can sync all motherboard/fan RGB lighting. ARGB signal can be daisy-chained that means you can chain up various be quiet! Light Wings RGB fans.
Passing to the Light Wings 140mm PWM, this model offers 2 more ARGB led (total 20 led) and has the following specifications.
Model | Light Wings 140mm PWM |
Dimensions (mm) | 140 x 140 x 25 |
Fan speed @ 100% PWM / 12V (rpm) | 1500 |
Air Flow @ 100% PWM / 12V (CFM / m3/h) | 56 / 95.14 |
Air Pressure @ 100% PWM / 12V (mm H2O) | 1.49 |
Lighting | ARGB LED |
Noise level @ 100% PWM / 12V (dB(A)) | 23.3 |
