Writing Quality Tests - 3T Jitter Tests
On an 80min 48X CD-R disc from Taiyo Yuden we burned the same AudioCD project at 16x, 24x, 32x and 40x. The 3T Pit & Land Jitter graphs are presented here.
- 3T Pit results
As we can easily conclude from the graphs above and below, the drive gives acceptable low jitter values at 16x and 24x speeds, while at 40x the level is well above the 35ns Red Book limit.
The average 3T Pit Jitter values for all recording speeds are illustrated in the following table.
The average Pit jitter for recording speeds of 16x and 24x are good.
- 3T Land results
The jitter land levels illustrated in the graph above, are not encouraging. Only at 16x does the BTC drive offer acceptable quality recording.

- Summary
The BTC is a good quality CD recorder at 16x and 24x speeds. At 32x and 40x, the levels were simply too high to be considered even as satisfactory. In the following page we test the drive's writing quality with other media brands.
