Codemasters selects StarForce for protection of multiple DVD titles

Optical Storage Oct 12,2004 0

StarForce, has signed another contract with Codemasters for protection of its highly anticipated "Club Football 2005", which was released on October 8, 2004 in Europe. According to Codemasters? estimates, the title will be a smash hit. Coming this autumn for PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC, "Club Football 2005" features a new game engine to power faster and more responsive gameplay. To prevent the title from being pirated, Codemasters has again chosen StarForce Professional, the strongest protection solution for software distributed on optical media.

In September 2004 Codemasters released another title "Colin McRae Rally 2005". The PC version of the popular racing game was released on StarForce protected DVDs Two weeks after the game's official release in Europe, no pirated copies of the game are available on the market or for download, and Codemasters has announced that it will also use StarForce?s DVD protection technology for its "Club Football 2005".

"Our protection solutions are often chosen by leading European publishing houses for their proven encryption strength provided by advanced software-based protection technologies", - says Olivier Duran, one of StarForce's representatives in Europe. - "Such an approach requires no physical alterations to the surface of the media and provides better compatibility of protected DVD discs. Yet, the technology provides an excellent level of encryption to decrease the risk of the licensed product being counterfeited.. This protects the publisher?s revenue and provides the end user with a high-quality software product. On the other hand, this is a cost-effective technology with no negative impact on the licensed product retail price".

Both companies, Codemasters and StarForce, have expressed hopes for their continuing cooperation in the future.
