Comcast Offers Free Xfinity Flex To Internet Customers
Comcast's Xfinity Flex is now included with an Xfinity Internet-only subscription, providing the company's customers with the ability to access their favorite streaming services and manage their connected home devices right on the TV.
It had previously charged those customers $5 per month for the service and remote.
Xfinity Flex comes with an Internet-connected, 4K UHD streaming TV device, the Xfinity Voice Remote, a redesigned guide, and more than 10,000 free movies and TV shows. Teh device allows customers to browse and search for programs from streaming services like Netflix Inc , Hulu and Amazon.com Inc’s Prime Video, as well as free shows and movies that Comcast will include with the set top box.
Xfinity Flex also allows consumers to manage, control and enjoy the connected home by enabling them to access their entertainment, find their Wi-Fi password, see what devices are connected to their network, set parental controls, and even pause Wi-Fi access on their home network. They also can use voice control to access their camera feeds, arm or disarm their home security system and find their Xfinity Mobile phone—all on the TV.
Apple, with its Apple TV app, is also trying to be a one-stop shop for buying and watching shows. App users can subscribe to channels like HBO and Showtime - and then watch those shows on any device connected to their Apple ID, whether it is an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV box.
