Crucial DDR5 Pro OC 32GB 6400

Crucial apart from the casual memory kits, does seem to want to introduce high-performance memory kits and the recently announced Crucial Pro OC 6400 series are in that way. While other vendors have introduced up to DDR5-8000 speeds (with Hynix memory modules), the Crucial branded memory uses Micron chipsets, which offer stable working memory speeds and universal support for both Intel/AMD memory platforms with the inclusion of both Intel XMP and AMD's EXPO profiles in one kit, so you don't have to worry about which memory module you should buy. For now, the DDR5-6400 CL38 series is offered in one package, the 32GB (2x16GB) kit. The retail package is simple and you have to tear it in order to move both modules. The included white matt heat origami style spreader does look very nice and has low height for maximum CPU cooler compatibility. There is no RGB present. The kit includes two XMP/EXPO profiles, either at 6000 CL36 or 6500 CL38, either for AMD/Intel systems. The kit needs 1.35V for the 6000/6400MHz memory profiles and in both settings, we got stable memory. It seems Crucial gave their maximum/best efforts with the Micron memory modules and we didn't find any room for further improvements, either very lowering CL at 6400MHz or trying to increase frequencies, all with stock (1.35V) voltages. So no overclocking abilities here, hence the OC title for this product.

The retail price of the Crucial Pro OC DDR5-6400 32GB Memory kit is around $127.99, making it higher priced than the Pro OC DDR5-6000 version ($96.99 from $118.99) which makes it difficult for us to recommend this product. Why you may ask? Because, at least for the AMD platform, the DDR5-6000 is the sweet spot for either the AMD5 7000/9000 series, and for the Intel platform, there are much faster memory kits available on the market. For us, the best deal is to get the Crucial Pro OC DDR5-6000 version that costs much less ($96.99 vs $127.99) and offers similar performance in synthetic benchmarks and equal gaming performance.
