be quiet! apart from the PC cases is also very well known for its power supplies series. Releasing a new budget power supply is always welcomed and the new Pure Power 12 series is an improvement from the older Pure Power 12M series that were released as the first graphics cards with the new 12VHPWR connector hit the market. Since new standards have emerged (ATX 3.1), be quiet! updates the Pure Power 12 series with fixed cables and compliance with the updated ATX 3.1 specification

ATX stands for Advanced Technology Extended and is a design guide that includes specifications for PC cases, power supply units, motherboards, and more. Intel has published this guide since 1996. Version 3.0 of the PSU guide was released in February 2022 and describes the requirements for power supplies to meet the new specifications defined by
PCI Express 5.0. This was the first major update in many years. The latest version, 3.1, was released in September 2023 and implements several fixes and refinements to the specification.

The main reason for the update from 3.0 to 3.1 is the new connector design, which makes it much safer to use. Some 12VHPWR connectors tended to become partially dislodged from the GPU or PSU power socket. In some cases, this resulted in uneven load distribution across the current-carrying pins and higher-than-expected heat. The newly introduced connector is called 12V-2x6 and is marked with “H++” on the side of the connector. The notable improvement is that its sense pins are shorter, which helps to disconnect the power when the connection comes loose. At the same time, the 12 conductor terminals are slightly longer, reducing the risk of losing connection. The new connector is 100% compatible with the old terminals. The new version also includes several minor changes related to test methodology, hold-up times, and clarifications. The most significant one, however, is the updated 12V2x6 connector.

Thanks to the new design and LLC topology, the PSU achieves a solid 80 PLUS® Gold certification. It features one 12V-2x6 cable with a rating of up to 600W for the high-wattage 1000W, 850W, and 750W models. The model with 650W is rated at 450W and Pure Power 12 550W features a 300W-cable. To ensure compatibility with current- and previous-generation graphics cards, cables with up to 3 PCIe 6+2 connectors (1000W, 850W, and 750W: 3 connectors, 650W, and 550W: 2 connectors) are also included in the scope of delivery.

Pure Power 12 can handle power excursions up to double its rated power with ease and is future-proof for next-gen devices. An exceptionally silent and temperature-controlled 120mm be quiet! fan is tuned to strike the best balance between effective cooling and quiet operation. Its airflow-optimized fan blades reduce turbulence, allowing for best-in-class operation with excellent airflow. The Pure Power 12 series is available with 1000, 850, 750, 650, and 550 watts and comes with a 10-year warranty without geographical restrictions.

Pure Power 12 comes in 1000 W, 850 W, 750 W, 650 W and 550 W with the following retail prices and a 10-year manufacturer's warranty.

  • Pure Power 12 1000 W: $134.90 / €134.90 / £119.99
  • Pure Power 12 850 W: $114.90 / €114.90 / £99.99
  • Pure Power 12 750 W: $104.90 / €104.90 / £89.99
  • Pure Power 12 650 W: $89.90 / €89.90 / £79.99
