E-net Stacks up Distribution Deals
E-net Distribution the Edinburgh-based optical media company, could move into leading retail outlets for the first time.
Shaf Rasul, the managing director and one of Scotland's richest businessmen who started E-net in 2000, said the company had already 'dipped its toe' and was looking to assess the full potential.
"It is something we have deliberately stayed away from for financial reasons but there is no doubt that it has enormous potential at developing the brands we distribute," said Rasul.
E-net is a leading distributor of optical media such as blank DVD/CDs and other data-storage devices. It is best known through its brand name devices such as Datasafe and Datawrite and Ridisc.
To date, it has concentrated on selling those products through independent retailers. "Being able to sell our brands in the likes of Asda and Tesco would open up lots of new possibilities," he said.
"Our brands are incredibly well known among the computer-literate 18-26 age group who consider them to be A-brands," said Rasul. "The older age group sees the likes of Sony and TDK as A-brands."
E-net is part of 35-year- old Rasul's Global business services support empire, which focuses primarily on Distribution, Real Estate Development and Management, Publishing and Logistics. He is already valued at more than £100m (($173,5m), which would catapult him into the list of the top 30 richest Scottish businessmen.
His ambition is to continue to develop the group of companies and he sees many opportunities for E-net to grow further.
"We are also talking to e- tailers about using our warehouse facility and that too has enormous potential to be of value."
The move comes as E-net signed distribution deals with Samsung and HP.
The Samsung deal involves distributing its Pleomax brand, into the European marketplace while E-net will work with HP in the UK.
Rasul, said: "We are delighted to have reached agreement with Pleomax to distribute its portfolio of products. The Samsung name is clearly A-list and we will put all our best efforts into ensuring as many potential customers as possible are made aware of what the range offers. "
"Our new warehouse is ideally suited for distribution and our sales force is second to none."
E-net Distribution will be exhibiting at CEBIT 2006. Hall 20 Booth B22.
