Firewalla Completes Its Zero Trust Networking Platform with New Managed Switch Family

Firewalla Completes Its Zero Trust Networking Platform with New Managed Switch Family

Enterprise & IT Jul 8,2026 0

Firewalla launched the Firewalla Switch family, a new line of managed switches designed to extend Zero Trust networking across wired infrastructures. The new Switch X and Switch SE complete Firewalla's integrated networking platform, bringing the company's visibility, segmentation, and access control capabilities to both wired and wireless devices through a single management system.

Building on the introduction of the Firewalla AP7 access point in 2025, the new switches bring Firewalla's VqLAN technology, dynamic segmentation capabilities, and centralized network management to wired environments, enabling organizations to deploy and manage end-to-end Zero Trust networks with greater simplicity and control.

"Last year, we introduced Zero Trust Networking with the Firewalla AP7," said Jerry Chen, co-founder of Firewalla. "We developed VqLAN to simplify microsegmentation, introduced dynamic segmentation with Device Active Protect, and made enterprise-grade network control accessible to everyone. With the Firewalla Switch family, we're extending those capabilities to wired devices and completing the Firewalla Zero Trust architecture."

Unlike traditional switches that focus primarily on connectivity, Firewalla Switches are designed to provide visibility and policy enforcement throughout the network. Organizations can monitor local device-to-device traffic, visualize network connectivity, apply segmentation policies across wired and wireless devices, and manage their entire network using the same Firewalla app.

The switches can operate as standalone managed switches with the Firewalla Gold/Purple or Orange firewalls, or be deployed alongside Firewalla AP7 access points to create a unified platform that extends Zero Trust protections beyond the wireless network.Firewalla

Switch X

Designed for high-performance business environments and network backbones, the rack-mountable Firewalla Switch X features:

Eight 10 Gigabit RJ45 ports with PoE++
Four 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplink ports
420 watts total PoE power budget
Support for both VqLAN and traditional VLAN deployments
Rack-mountable design
Projected MSRP $699

Switch X is ideal for organizations deploying high-speed infrastructure, powering multiple access points, security cameras, VoIP phones, and other network-connected devices while maintaining centralized visibility and control.

Firewalla Switch SE

Designed for smaller networks, branch offices, and edge deployments, the Firewalla Switch SE features:

Eight 2.5 Gigabit RJ45 ports with PoE+
Two 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplink ports
120 watts total PoE power budget
Support for both VqLAN and traditional VLAN deployments
Compact desktop form factor
Projected MSRP $300

Switch SE can operate independently or alongside Switch X as an edge switch, providing a cost-effective way to extend network segmentation and visibility throughout an organization.

Unified Management and Visibility

When deployed within a Firewalla environment, the Switch family provides:

End-to-end Zero Trust networking across wired and wireless devices
VqLAN-based microsegmentation
Dynamic segmentation capabilities
Local traffic monitoring and east-west traffic visibility
Access controls between devices on the same network
Network topology visualization
Unified configuration and management through the Firewalla app
Integrated support for Firewalla firewalls and AP7 access points

Together, Firewalla firewalls, AP7 access points, and the new Switch family create a complete Zero Trust networking platform spanning internet gateways, wireless infrastructure, and wired devices.

Availability
Firewalla plans to begin pre-sales in July 2026. Two purchase options are expected to be available:

Early Access Units – Limited quantities available exclusively in the United States. These units are expected to ship shortly after purchase and will include final production hardware with beta software.
Pre-Sale Units – Available at discounted pre-sale pricing with shipments expected in September and October 2026. These units will include production hardware and production software.
Initial quantities may be limited due to ongoing supply constraints affecting networking and semiconductor components. For more information see: https://youtu.be/wN5YNe76fBA
