Fujifilm boosts its memory

Fujifilm boosts its memory

Fujifilm has announced the introduction of new media card formats aimed at both the professional photographer and the consumer. The professional and consumer ranges will feature separate and distinctive packaging, and the extended portfolio means that almost every media card on the market can now be found under the Fujifilm brand offering customers a straightforward path to whichever format they require.

Fujifilm Professional Media
Every single media card in Fujifilm's Professional Media range comes complete with a Lifetime Guarantee. Kicking off the new range, Fujifilm's High Speed SecureDigital (SD) card is available in 60x and 133x speeds. The 60x speed comes in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB sizes. The 133x speed card (offering up to 20MB/second transfer rate) is available in 512MB and 1GB sizes, and has undergone a rigorous and specially designed testing process to ensure it can withstand extreme conditions, including a temperature range of -25 to +85 degrees Celsius.

SD cards are widely used within cameras, camcorders, PDAs, mobile phones and other devices.

Fujifilm's CompactFlash range now incorporates higher capacity media and faster speeds, including both 40x and 133x. The 40x CompactFlash card is available in 256MB to 4GB sizes, and the 133x version in 1GB - 8GB sizes.

Fujifilm offers an entire range of capacities from 16MB to the newly launched 1GB. This memory format offers fast read-write times, lower power consumption, and is used as standard in several leading brands of digital camera.

Fujifilm Consumer and Mobile Media
Fujifilm"s comprehensive selection of general-purpose media cards, designed for consumer electronics and mobile devices, come with a 5 Year Guarantee.

The company has introduced MMCplus to its range, replacing the traditional MMC (MultiMedia Card) format, and providing an increase in speed. Available in sizes from 128MB to 1GB, MMCplus has been designed to be backwards and forwards compatible, meaning that it can be used in existing devices using traditional MMC as well as future devices based on the MMCplus format.

Fujifilm is also entering the mobile media market with the introduction of MMCmobile, a range of memory cards designed not only for cameras, but for mobile phones and PDAs that require additional storage for multimedia files such as pictures, video clips, ring tones and music. A replacement for RS-MMC, Fujifilm MMCmobile is available in capacities from 64MB up to 1GB and is dual-voltage (1.8 and 3.3 volt), which means it will work in all mobile handsets. The cards are backwards and forwards compatible, and also come with an adaptor enabling them to fit existing MMC card readers and devices.

The Mini SecureDigita (SD) card is also designed for use in mobile phones. Available in capacities up to 1GB, MiniSD cards include an adaptor to make them compatible with all digital cameras, mobile phones, portable storage and PDAs that take standard SD cards.
