Gateway Announces New Line of Media Center PCs
Gateway has its new line of PCs for the holiday buying season, including Media Center desktop PCs.
The entire desktop line features the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 operating system. However, only the line's 'high-performance' model, the Gateway GT5014, includes an integrated TV tuner for viewing and recording TV programs. As far as we're concerned a media center PC isn't a media center PC without a TV tuner.
The Gateway GT5014 combines the entertainment benefits of Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2005 with an integrated TV tuner and remote control. Gateway customers can use the PC to enjoy and control live and recorded TV programming as well as digital video, photography and music. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 integrated graphics with full DirectX(TM) 9 support provides advanced graphics playback that makes gaming, digital video and other multimedia vibrant. In addition, Gateway has designed the system with high-definition 7.1 audio capabilities for high fidelity sound.
High-performance technology abounds in the Gateway GT5014. It features an Intel Pentium D 820 dual core (2.8GHz) processor. The PC also boasts a double layer DVD+/-R/RW multi-format optical drive, DVD-ROM and 250GB SATA hard drive (7200RPM with 8MB cache) and an 8-in-1 digital media reader to store and access digital content.
The Gateway GT5014 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $899.99.
Gateway offers other Media Center desktop PCs, the Gateway GT5012 and Gateway 838GM.
The Gateway GT5012 uses the reliable BTX chassis that is ideal for cooling the powerful high-performance dual core Intel Pentium D Processor 820 (2.8GHz). Intel GMA 950 graphics with DirectX 9 support enhances the visual images with vivid color and clarity while Gateway's high definition 7.1 audio enhances sound. High-end features such as a huge 1GB of DDR2 memory and 250GB hard drive make this system ready to take on graphics and demanding applications.
Anyone on a budget who wants to do more with digital media can select the Gateway 838GM Media Center desktop PC. Delivering a superior setting for enjoying digital media at an affordable price, the Gateway 838GM features Intel GMA 900 graphics with DirectX 9 support as well as high definition 5.1 audio. The PC will be able to handle 64-bit applications with ease and speed as it is equipped with a 64-bit Intel Pentium 4 processor 630 (3.0GHz) with Hyper-Threading technology.
