HTC Enjoys November of Record Sales

HTC Enjoys November of Record Sales

Smartphones Dec 11,2007 0

Smartphone maker HTC set a new record for monthly revenue in October, then immediately broke that record in November. HTC's revenue in October was NT$13.1 million (US$404.8 million), up 22.3% over the same month in the previous year.

Although that was the most the company had ever taken in during a month, this was surpassed in November. HTC's revenue then was NT$14.5 million (US$449.3 million), a year-over-year growth of 32.7%.

The company is on track to have a very successful year. Its revenue so far -- NT$107.2 million (US$3.3 billion) -- has already exceeded its revenue for all of 2006.

The (Mostly) Unknown Giant

Until recently, most smartphone users had never heard of HTC, even if they owned a device it had designed and manufactured. This is because the company was content to work in the background, creating products that were re-branded and sold by other companies.

Recently however, HTC has decided to step more into the limelight. Most of its models are still sold by other companies, but they now bear the HTC name, like the Sprint Mogul by HTC.

And there are quite a few of them. Exact figures aren't available, but a very significant percentage of the Windows Mobile devices sold worldwide are made by this company.

For comparison, HTC's revenue during the month of November was significantly higher than Palm, Inc's was during its entire most recent financial quarter.
