The new HTC E9 smartphone will be thinner than the M9, with a bigger screen running at a much higher resolution, according to leaked specs and images. HTC has just revealed the M9 flagship smartphone but leaks from China suggest the upcoming HTC E9 might be a strong competitor.

China's telecommunications regulator TENAA has posted an image of the E9, revealing a phone that's flatter and thinner spottted by Engadget. The E9 appears slimmer than the M9, with a larger and higher-resolution screen.

TENAA lists the E9 device with the dimensions of 156.5×76.5x7.54 mm (6.1 x 3 x 0.3 inches) as well as a 5.5-inch screen and a 2,800mAh battery.

Previous reports indicated that the E9's 5.5-inch screen would have a Quad HD resolution (2,560x1,440) compared to the M9's 1080p. The chipset will also be a MediaTek MT6795 octacore processor running at 2.0GHz.

Other specs include a 20MP rear camera, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
