Imation 4GB Micro Hard Drive
Imation announced today that the new 4 gigabyte (GB) drive is now available through Imation authorized distributors and retailers worldwide.
With stylish padlock design, the durable Imation Micro Hard Drive features a flexible USB connector that locks directly into the drive and can be easily used to clip the storage device to a belt loop, keychain or briefcase. The Imation Micro Hard Drive also encompasses the 2005 Guinness World Records(TM) book smallest hard disk drive, a Toshiba invention measuring less than one inch in diameter, smaller than the size of a quarter, but powerful enough to quickly and easily store 4GB of information.
This innovative design was recently recognized as a 2006 Innovations Design and Engineering Awards honoree and will be featured at the 2006 International CES Innovations Plus exhibit at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, booth #72444 on Jan. 5 through Jan. 8. The annual competition honors outstanding consumer electronic design and engineering in 30 different categories and acknowledged the Imation Micro Hard Drive in the "Computer Components" category.
"Imation was the first in the industry to design a device using the Toshiba 0.85-inch hard disk drive, recognizing the need for ultra portable storage," said Scott Maccabe, vice president and general manager, Toshiba Storage Device Division. "By utilizing Toshiba's hard disk drive technology and responding to customer feedback, Imation has created an improved micro storage device that promises today's mobile professionals a small yet powerful storage device."
Since the Imation Micro Hard Drive is compatible with PC, Mac and Linux operating systems, file sharing is a breeze. And the Imation Micro Hard Drive securely locks all files with 128-bit encryption, providing maximum file security and preventing unauthorized access. Imation Security Manager file synchronization software for Windows and Mac creates a backup copy of data and automatically synchronizes the copies to provide easier access to previous versions. A software upgrade featuring enhancements such as a streamlined user interface, which makes protecting and restoring files even easier, and modifications to make the device compatible with Mac OS X Tiger software will be available for both the 2GB and 4GB drives in early January 2006 at http://www.imation.com/support .
"From its unique design to its maximum reliability and file security, the incredibly portable Imation Micro Hard Drive is perfect for mobile professionals to transport, share and carry monster-sized files," said Tom Lally, U.S. executive director of sales and marketing, Imation. "Now our customers can benefit from the convenience and performance of the higher capacity 4GB drive and software upgrades that make the drive even more efficient and easier to use."
The Imation 4GB Micro Hard Drive is now available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $189. For additional information about the Imation Micro Hard Drive, go to http://www.imation.com/microharddrive.
