Imation Transforms CD and DVD Management

Imation Transforms CD and DVD Management

Optical Storage Apr 26,2005 0

The Imation Disc Stakka CD and DVD Manager is ideal for either business or home disc organization," said Jim Milligan, executive director of sales and marketing, Imation "It's the first-of-its kind disc management system that provides a simple and efficient way to manage and protect any disc library -- large or small. The Disc Stakka system provides increased productivity, organization, and security for businesses that need to manage a vast collection of content as well as home users who seek an easy way to organize their music, games, or data discs."

The compact Disc Stakka system links to any PC or Macintosh computer using a single USB connection for both power and data. Disc Stakka units can be stacked up to five high to create a "tower" that holds up to 500 discs without requiring additional cables. For the power user, the Disc Stakka system offers scalable capacity by connecting up to 100 towers using powered USB hubs. Users can store, manage and protect over 50,000 discs from a single computer. Any Disc Stakka unit can be added or removed from anywhere in the system without the need to reboot.

Bundled OpdiTracker(TM) Disc Management Software provides an intuitive database and powerful search engine. Users can search the database of stored discs by title, keyword, directory, or file name to find and eject any disc within seconds. When a new disc is inserted into the computer's CD or DVD drive, the Disc Stakka system automatically recognizes it and gives users the option to add its name and contents (folder and file names) to the database. The disc can then be stored safely for immediate retrieval at any time

The OpdiTracker Software provides an optional password protection system enabling users to control access to each unit. For additional data security, the system also prompts users to record the name of the person who borrows a disc, so that every disc is accounted for.

The Imation Disc Stakka CD and DVD Manager is available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $149 from Imation authorized distributors and resellers. More information is available on Imation's website at www.imation.com/stakka.
