Intel Discloses Details Of Upcoming Haswell-based Ulrtabooks
Intel has outlined the basic guidelines of its third-generation ultrabooks to notebook makers. The ultrabooks will be powered by Haswell processors and will be available in three major price levels aimed at different consumer groups.
Citing sources in Taiwan, Digitimes.com today reported that
Intel's third-generation ultrabooks, based on the Haswell processors, will be available in US$599-798, US$799-998 and US$999 and above price ranges, with display sizes ranging from 11.6- to 15-inch.
The US$599-798 ultrabooks will feature a clamshell design abd willb epowered by Intel Core i3 Haswell processors with Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU. They will also feature 500GB hybrid drive (HDD/SSD) and have a battery life of about eight hours.
For the US$699-998 segment, designs will be either convertible or detachable, adopting an Intel Core i5 processor, Intel HD Graphics 5100 GPU and 128GB solid state drive (SSD). HD cameras audio and speakers along with dual-array microphones and sensors are also part of the new designs.
The high-end US$999 and above ultrabooks will also adopt either convertible or detachable designs powered by a Core i7 processor, an Intel HD Graphics 5100 GPU and a 250GB SSD. Their weight will be less than 2.5kg.
All the new ultrabooks will support Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) technology and have 4GB DDR3 memory.
