JVC Demos 3-D Technologies at AT 2010
JVC is demonstrating an array of 3-D television technologies at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
Technologies on display include a 3-D LCD monitor already on the market, an ultra high resolution high definition 3-D demonstration and a processor for the professional market that converts 2-D content to 3-D.
Here?s an overview of JVC?s 3-D technologies on display at International CES:
4K2K 3-D Demonstration
In the JVC Theater in the company's CES booth is a demonstration of 3-D content in full 4K2K (4096 x 2400 pixels) resolution - four times the resolution of Full HD - using a pair of JVC DLA-RS4000 4K projectors.
3-D LCD Monitor
The JVC GD-463D10 is a 46-inch LCD monitor that features Xpol technology for flicker-free stereoscopic images with glasses (passive). JVC has several of these monitors in its booth showing a variety of content, including a display that features the FujiFilm W1 Finepix 3-D camera. The GD-463D10 is currently shipping.
3-D Image Processor
CES marks the introduction of the JVC IF-2D3D1 stereoscopic processor that converts 2-D video to 3-D in real time. The processor accepts a standard HDMI or HDSDI input in HD, and provides stereo output in a variety of formats: sequential, side-by-side, line-by-line, checkerboard, anaglyph or separate L/R signals. It is being shown with a variety of 2-D input content, with the output displayed in 3-D on the JVC GD-463D10 LCD monitor. In addition to providing real time 2-D to 3-D conversion, the unit can also accept discrete L/R signals from a stereoscopic camera rig, and convert the signals to a standard that can be displayed on the GD-463D10 monitor--useful for 3-D production crews.
