Lenovo Announces New ThinkPad Ultrabooks at IFA 2013
Lenovo is introducing new thinner ThinkPads at IFA 2013 today. These new ThinkPads include form factors that are 20% thinner than other ThinkPads with up to a 20% reduction in bezel size. They also feature the new ThinkPad precision keyboard and a larger multitouch trackpad that supports gestures in Windows 8.
You can also swap the optional external batteries out of these new ThinkPads courtesy of Lenovo's "Power Bridge" technology without having to turn off the device.
The T440s is light (as little as 3.5lbs) and thin (.79 inches). It comes with an optional full HD touchscreen display, built in 4G broadband capability, up to 1 terabyte of storage (SSDs) and up to 17 hours of battery life. The ThinkPad T440s will be available starting at end of October starting at $1,149 (U.S.).
The T440 comes with a "HD+" screen with optional touch. It shares many of the same features as the T440s including being light and thin (.83 inches). It also comes with an optional integrated smart card reader for security. Both the T440s and T440 come with 4th generation Intel Core processors. The ThinkPad T440 will be available starting at the end of October starting at $899 (U.S.).
The new X240 comes with a 12.5-inch fill HD display with optional touch and weighs less than 3lbs., and is only .79 inches thick. It comes with up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processors, up to a terabyte of storage, and a backlit ThinkPad Precision keyboard. it also fully stocked with the ports you need. The ThinkPad X240 will be available starting end of October starting at $1,099 (U.S.).
The S440 and S540 come with an ultra-thin bezel with beveled edges, allowing for a larger screen in a smaller form factor. They both come with 4th generation Intel Core processors, up to full HD touch and discrete graphics. The S440 comes with a 14-inch screen and the S540 comes with a 15.6-inch screen. The ThinkPad S440 will be available in select markets outside the U.S. in September starting at €699. And the ThinkPad S540 will be available in select markets outside the U.S. in October starting at €649.
