3T Jitter Tests

As in the previous test, we used Taiyo Yuden 80min 48x CD-R media and burned the same AudioCD project at all available recording speeds. Below you can see the 3T Pit & Land Jitter graphs.

- 3T Pit results

No particular media brand managed to stay within the 35ns limit, although with TDK media, the jitter level was acceptable and really only went ove the limit towards the end. Ritek media could also be considered as acceptable.

The average 3T Jitter values for all media brands are illustrated in the following table.

The average values also show that TDK and Ritek media are the best performers.

- 3T Land results

The average 3T Land results are all well over the limit with TDK, Ritek and also Creation media having the best values. The average values presented in the graph below simply confirms this observation.

- Summary

The average 3T Pit and Land jitter values reach very high levels, there not being one manufacturer's media that performed within the 35nsec standard for both Pit and Land jitter, although TDK and Ritek are probably the best choice. However, the drive here, as in the previous set of quality tests, does not present itself as a good writer.

On the following page we check the C1 and C2 error rates for the same discs. These are the last of the quality tests.
