- Writing Performance
8x DVD+R
The LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder supports writing speeds of 2.4x, 4x CLV, 8x ZCLV with DVD+R media. Unfortunatelly, the drive did not record at 8x with any DVD media we trialed.
4x DVD-R
The LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder supports writing speeds of 2x 4x CLV with DVD-R media.
4x DVD+RW
The LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder supports writing speeds of 2.4x, 4x CLV with DVD+RW media.
2x DVD-RW
The LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder supports writing speeds of 2x CLV with DVD-RW media.
Apart from DVD-RW writing at 2x, the remaining writing graphs all show a number of glitches during the writing process. The odd glitch now and then is not uncommon even with the best of drives, however the LG drive has been consisten in this respect.
- Burning Tests
- DVD±R/±RW
We burned 4315MB of data on Verbatim 4x DVD+R and 2.4x DVD+RW media. The recording times are illustrated in the following table:

The writing times are steady and consistent and appear to be quite good. Keep in mind that the DVD+R time for the LiteOn drive which is given here for comparison, was carried out at 8x ZCLV, a time that was considered to be very good.
The following snapshots come from Nero, after successful DVD burning for each of the DVD formats with the LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder. The amount of data written is the same for all tests.
