3T Jitter Tests
On an 80min 48x CD-R disc from Taiyo Yuden we burned the same AudioCD project at 8x, 12x, and 16x. The 3T Pit & Land Jitter graphs are presented here.
- 3T Pit results
The 3T Pit Jitter values start off at acceptable levels for all three speeds, but soon rise above the 35ns Red Book limit. There are also some very disturbing peaks along the way which rise to very high levels (56ns).
The average 3T Jitter values for all recording speeds are illustrated in the following table.
The higher the speed, the higher the average jitter. As averages go, these are not the worst we've had, but considering the first graph further above, the drive does not appear to be a good performer.
- 3T Land results
The average 3T Land results are very similar to those for Pit Jitter, perhaps a little higher overall, but again with some nice peaks. The average values presented in the graph below simply confirm this.
- Summary
The average 3T Pit values were just within limits while those for Land jitter were not. In any case, at no speed did the drive manage to stay within limits and in fact the maximum values are very high.

The LG GSA-4081B Multi DVD Recorder did not produce particularly good results, and at least at this point does not appear to be a quality writer.
The following page where we check the jitter levels produced on various manufacturers discs, should give a better indication of the writing quality level of the drive.
