LG Innotek Develops New Display Slim Panel With Low Resonse Time
LG Innotek has developed an advanced touch screen display panel called "Metal Mesh" designed for use in tablets and smartphones.
Suited for medium- and large-sized displays in notebooks and monitors, the new touch screen panels have enhanced response times even for the large 23-inch versions. It is also a very small thickness allowing for the development of less than 5mm-thick 23-inch touch screens.
In addition, the display is wholly transparent as a touch sensor circuitry is composed of silver or copper. And according to LG, it will be competitively priced.
LG component-making unit, is seeking to increase its stake in premium devices by promoting advanced cover glass products to be used in smartphones, while the company will also approach other clients for sale of Metal Mesh displays for tablets and notebook PCs.
IHS expects the value of demand for touch screens will rise to $38.7 billion by the end of 2016 from last year's $18.2 billion.
