Memorex Introduces Cool Colors DVD+R Media

Memorex Introduces Cool Colors DVD+R Media

Optical Storage Jan 9,2005 0

Memorex presents a more stylish and fun way to save TV, home movies, data files and more with its new 8x write speed Cool Colors DVD+R media. Available in a 10-pack, Memorex Cool Colors DVD+R media features discs in blue, green, red, yellow and purple with equally colorful slim movie box cases. The slim movie box cases protect DVD discs from scratches and the damaging effects of dust and light, and feature a patented center hub that is specially designed to prevent disc damage as DVDs are inserted and removed. Memorex DVD+R discs are write-once, record at 8x speed and can store up to 4.7GB of data or two hours of video.

“Memorex Cool Colors DVD+R media offers consumers yet another way to express their creativity. Whether consumers use the discs for a home movie project or a digital slide show, these colorful DVDs add style to consumers’ digital creations,” said Brad Yeager, senior product marketing manager for digital media. “Consumers depend on DVD storage to save and share large amounts of important data, video and photos. Memorex consistently provides more solutions for every digital storage need.”

Memorex leads the DVD+R media category with more than 27 percent market share through the third quarter of 2004 based on unit sales, according to NPD Group. This is two and a half times greater than the number two vendor and represents a unit share increase of 2.5 percent over the same period in 2003. This makes Memorex number one in the DVD+R category for the third year in a row. Memorex also leads in the DVD+RW category with 54 percent unit share, over six times that of the number two vendor.

Memorex is a DVD+RW Products Promotion Group (DPPG) member of the DVD+RW Alliance, a group of industry-leading personal computing manufacturers, optical storage and electronics manufacturers committed to developing and promoting a universally compatible, rewritable DVD format to enable true convergence between personal computing and consumer electronics products. Memorex also offers more DVD+R/+RW package configurations than any other retail brand of media.

To complement Memorex Cool Colors DVD+R discs, Memorex today also introduced at CES its new 16x Dual-Format, Double-Layer DVD Recorders in both internal and external models. The recorders are the latest introductions in a line of award-winning optical drives.

Pricing and Availability

Memorex Cool Colors DVD+R media will be available in retail stores nationwide in February. Discs will be available in 10-packs, with a suggested retail price of $14.99 per pack.
