Nintendo has announced that the popular "Minecraft" game will launch on the Wii U December 17 for $29.99. Although the game will look the same on Nintendo as it does on other console versions, Wii U will support off-TV play, allowing users to keep playing on the gamepad when the TV is occupied.

Nintendo is also working with the game developer to create new game content for Nintendo users in the coming months.
