Motorola Mobility Invests in Social Game Publisher
Motorola Mobility, through its strategic investment arm, today announced an equity investment in Moblyng, a developer and publisher of cross-platform, HTML5-based games for mobile devices and social networks.
Moblyng games have been published for Android, Facebook, iOS and WebOS platforms.
"Motorola Mobility Ventures seeks out the most innovative and promising new companies in which to invest, and we found a strong synergy between our vision for the future of mobile and Moblyng's strategic direction," said Harshul Sanghi, managing director of Motorola Mobility Ventures. "Moblyng was an early adopter of Android and is an industry leader in using HTML5 to bring cross-platform social gaming experiences to mobile devices. We look forward to accelerating the realization of their vision."
"As an early Android developer, Moblyng is very excited to work with Motorola Mobility, the leading Android smartphone and tablet provider," said Stewart Putney, chief executive officer and founder of Moblyng. "We look forward to working together to bring exciting social gaming experiences to Motorola Mobility's devices."
Moblyng is well-known both for its own titles - such as m:Racing and Dungeon Quest for the Android platform - and partnering with publishers such as Playdom to extend their games and brands to mobile devices and social platforms such as Facebook. For example, the collaboration with Playdom has included Android versions of Mobsters and Sorority Life. In addition, Moblyng recently worked with WeeWorld to launch WeeMee Life.
