New Meizu MX5 Unveils In China
Besides Huawei, Meizu also held an event in China today to present the new MX5 flagship phone, which comes with an AMOLED display. The successor to the MX4 released last year uses Samsung's 5.5" AMOLED screen with a 1080p resulution in a 16:9 form factor. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
The smartphone employs MediaTek's new Helio X10 / MT6795 SoC with A17 and A7 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration. It also comes with a standard 3GB of LPDDR3 memory and a 3150mAh battery pack.
The camera system remains a Sony IMX220 20.7MP sensor with an F2.2 aperture lens. What's new is a laser auto-focus system right under the flash LED, enabling fast-focus for down to 0.2s according to Meizu.
The fingerprint sensor on the the MX5 enables users to perform OS security functions such as unlocking the device.
The phone ships with Meizu's FlymeOS 4.5 Android 5.0 operating system.
For now the device is aimed at the Chinese market. Prices are ¥1799, ¥1999 and ¥2399 price-points for 16, 32 or 64GB versions.
