Meizu's 'Super mCharge' Technology Will Charge A Smartphone In 20 Minutes

Meizu's 'Super mCharge' Technology Will Charge A Smartphone In 20 Minutes

Smartphones Feb 28,2017 0

Smartphone manufacturer Meizu on Tuesday unveiled its latest fast-charging solution "Super mCharge" at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.

"Super mCharge" is a major breakthrough among existing direct charging solutions that Meizu's battery to top up at a much faster rate, the company said in a statement.

The charging connector has a maximum power of 55W for an accelerated full charge time of 20 minutes.

Despite the high wattag, Meizu says that a smartphone's battery will remain relatively cool during charging. This means that a user could
play games or watch movies on the device while it is being charged.

Super mCharge adopts optimized charge pump technology. Comprising two groups of circuits, charge pump exports half of the voltage after transformation and improves efficiency by 9%. Meizu says its solution yields 98% efficiency, compared with other companies who struggle to hit 90%.

Meizu's new 3,000 mAh battery has been designed to bear more than four times the current to match the capabilities of Super mCharge. The company claims that the lithium-based material and special manufacturing processes have improved energy throughput and service life. The battery remains over 80% capacity even after 800 complete charge and discharge cycles. Based on Meizu's data analysis, the battery's service life exceeds more than two years.

Meizu also underlined that Super mCharge is safe and secure. Only half of the electric current is needed to reach the same power, and its efficient structure reduces heat generated problems. The data cable can carry up to 160W of power, with more than 3 times the safety margin. The USB port has been also redesigned to leave enough area for the cache, with additional design measures having been taken to ensure safe charging, including a voltage monitoring system, electric current monitoring system and a 10-level safety protection means.
