The new NEC VT48, VT58, VT480 and VT580 Projectors
NEC Europe has launched a new VT projector range consisting of the models VT48, VT58, VT480 and VT580.
The new projectors of the VT range include both basic models and professional models for schools and businesses. Two special features which enhance the basic models, the VT48 and VT58, are the quick start function and the SDTV deinterlacer to optimise video playback. However, the professional models also incorporate new functions.
The VT48 and the VT58 are claimed to offer great value for money. They both have a contrast ratio of 600:1 and, considering that they are basic models, they deliver high intensity images. At the same time, the VT48's 1,600 ANSI lumens and the VT58's 1,500 ANSI lumens provide increased brightness for products in this segment. First-rate functions such as quick start and the SDTV deinterlacer to optimise video playback are now standard features in these basic models. Both projectors also come with a 4.5 metre cable.
NEC said that the new projectors operate almost noiselessly at 25 dB, and each weigh 2.8 kg. Another feature is that the fan switches off after only 30 seconds, which means that the projector is soon ready for transportation again.
Whereas the VT48 and VT58 are more suitable for small audiences, the VT480 and VT580 can be used for presentations in large auditoriums. When the projector is permanently installed in a room, a second PC or laptop can be connected in parallel through the two PC ports. Another special feature is the further enhanced wall colour correction, which ensures true colours even on coloured projection surfaces. If the selected projection wall is slightly coloured, the user selects one of several predefined colour tones and the projector will automatically correct the colours in accordance with the colour of the background.
Both projectors deliver light output of 2,000 ANSI lumens.
